Phong Nha Botanic Garden Introduction
Phong Nha Botanic Garden is a nature reserve with an area of over 40 hectares located in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. With the wild and majestic beauty, it is an attractive tourist attraction for tourists in Quang Binh. Traveling to the Botanical Garden, you can immerse yourself in the wild nature, have the opportunity to learn about the rich, rare flora and fauna of the primary forest.
Phong Nha Botanic Garden Location
Botanical Garden is located on km 9, No.20 Quyet Thang road, about 12km from Phong Nha – Ke Bang Tourism Center. Covering an area of 41.82 hectares.
It is a national park where two conservation measures are being implemented simultaneously that are very rare in other national parks. It is the on-site conservation (Insitu) of the biodiversity value of the natural forest ecosystem. And the collection and migration of plant species from other places; also known as displacement conservation (Exsitu).
What to explore in the Phong Nha Botanical Gaden?
The ecotourism and environmental interpretation site Phong Nha Botanical Garden includes 9 attractions: Wind Waterfall, Tien Waterfall, Vang Anh Lake, Specimen Gallery; Indigenous seedling nursery, 100-year-old Sao tree, ancient Gua tree, Vong Canh Hill, and Bullet Cave.
The highlight of the botanical garden is the beautiful landscape hidden in the tropical forest such as the wind waterfall over 30m high; Vang Anh lake on the Ba Khe stream; the nursery of indigenous seedlings; the primary forest with rare floras, etc. Coming to the Phong Nha botanical garden, you can also learn about the work of animal and plant research and rescue staff here.
The specimen gallery
Before exploring the forest, we will visit the specimen gallery, which is a place to store dry specimens for scientific research and environmental interpretation.
Here, we can see the specimen collection of endemic and rare flora and fauna species of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park and some geological and geomorphological specimens, 4-ray coral is the scientific evidence of the ancient geomorphologic system that formed over 400 million years ago, but few places can see them.
The Wind Waterfall
Continuing the journey of discovery, following the trail, we will go deep into the primeval forest to experience the feeling of conquering the challenge when coming to the Wind Waterfall.
As one of the ideal stops in the Phong Nha Botanic Garden. Wind waterfall is the most majestic and tall waterfall in the World Natural Heritage, Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park. The waterfall falls down from above to release white foam-like inlaid silver on the steep rocky slope.
At the foot of the waterfall, there is a large, blue, and cool lake. The harmonious combination between the gray color of the rock, the gentle little water flow, the green of the trees makes the Wind waterfall both majestic and peaceful as a natural painting of splendid but beautiful.
Vang Anh Lake in the Phong Nha Botanic Garden
Along with the majestic beauty of the Wind waterfall, the mysterious and dangerous route along the ravine, Vang Anh Lake is one of the interesting destinations of the Phong Nha Botanical Garden.

The Phong Nha Botanic Garden Trekking Itinerary
Traveling to the Phong Nha Botanic Garden, you can visit all the sightseeing routes on an area of 40 hectares of natural forest with about 4km of walking trails or you can also choose the following suitable routes if you don’t have much time.
The Trekking route 1 (2,500m long): Specimen gallery – Indigenous seedling nursery – Vang Anh lake – Hundred years old Sao tree – Vong Canh hill – Wind waterfall.
The trekking route 2 (5,000m long): Specimen Gallery – Wind Waterfall – Fairy Waterfall – Old Gua tree – Hang Can – Hundred years old Tree of Sao – Vang Anh lake (applied to visitors on tour with a guide, not applicable for free visitors).
Every day there are a maximum of 5 tours and 20 people/ trip.
Activities: Watching specimens on display, observing primates, some fruit birds; watching 1 of the 10 most beautiful birds on the planet; and watching rare trees over 100 years old, watching wind waterfalls as well.
